Skooldae

After School
After school I joined the air force as a chopper mechanic and was introduced to the PTI - Personal Training Instructor - course. Due to my nature for adventure I volunteered for the course, which at the time, 1990 was the 2nd hardest course in the SADF. About 158 people volunteered for the course, only 28 finished. The course was over a yearlong. It consisted of weapons training, PT phase and drill. It turned all boys into men. We were fighting for the honor to wear the swords, which ment more respect than the highest ranked officer. I served the country for 3 years as a PTI officer.

Hospitalized From 125kg to 72kg

In 1993 my life took a bad turn when I was involved in a head-on collision with an 18-wheel truck. As a result of my injuries, a crushed pelvis, ribs and all my intestines torned, I spend 3 months on my back with pins coming out of my hips and in traction. After 3 months I was moved to a wheelchair and my chances of walking were slim. I had to learn how to walk like a baby again. With a lot of strength and determination I could walk again with the aid of crutches after 6 months. Before the accident I weighed 125kg, when I left the hospital I weighed 72kg. Thanks to my athletic background and the way I was built at the time, it saved my life.

Once I was up and going again I started at a gym in Johannesburg. I met Reg Park through a good friend of mine, Andre, and started working on building my body big time, completed 2 courses given by Reg Park as to gain my personal training qualifications. Reg Park was the first South African to win Mr. Universe and personal friend of Arnold Schwartzenegger. I was manager for a big group of gyms for the next 2 years where I gained almost all my experience and knowledge of training.

Amerika

I started working at clubs as a bouncer, as luck would have it I was noticed by a security company, which then hired me. I trained for 8 months, weapon tactics, armed combat and self-defense. I then joined a elite group called I.E. I started my first body-guarding job for Senators and state government for 2 years. I then stared on my own with an agent who got me clients, from gangsters to the rich and famous. Due to client confidentiality names cannot be mentioned.

I then got hired by an Arab Sheik to protect him while building a hotel in Wales for the rugby worldcup. A group of us were later hired to look after the Wales Ice hockey team, which turned out to be a lot of fun. At this stage I was on the road without seeing my family for about 5 years, I decided to come back home. I worked in JHB for a few months before moving to a little town called Phalaborwa in the Northern Transvaal, where my life changed dramatically.

Choices - make the right one!
During my body-guarding and security advising years I had my fair share of close calls. I have been shot 3 times, in my leg, foot and chest. I have been stabbed a couple of times, my face smashed and reconstructed twice - maybe for the better, you be the judge of that.

During this time of money and glory I was heavily involved in drugs, gangs and women. I don't think there is a drug on the market that I haven't tried. Drug-use became a part of my life due to the things I saw. Having to look after a client, sometimes for up to 12 hours a day, I felt drained and used that as an excuse to take drugs. The party lifestyle of my clients was sex, drugs, and rock and roll. I became part of this, which nearly destroyed my life because I couldn't say NO.
